See the full gallery. Brüno is a gay Austrian fashion guru. He has his own fashion based television show, Funkyzeit, the most popular German-language show of its kind outside of Germany.
After he disgraces himself in front of his Funkyzeit fan base, he is ruined in German speaking Europe. He decides that in his quest for worldwide fame, he will move to Los Angeles and reinvent himself.
Accompanying him to the US is Lutz, his former assistant's assistant. Lutz is the only person left in his circle that still believes in Brüno's greatness.
Brüno goes through one reinvention of himself after another, ultimately straying to areas far removed from his own self.
Perhaps when Brüno finds an activity that he truly does love, he will also find that über-fame he so desperately desires.
Written by Huggo. The comparison between 'Brüno' and 'Borat' seems inevitable and even though 'Borat' tackles some relevant issues and constantly maintains its sense of very crude, offensive, outlandish and macabre humour 'Brüno' does the same but it's more toned down when compared to 'Borat'.
Yet, even though the vulgarity is less in frequency when compared to 'Borat' at its crudest, 'Brüno' tops the aforementioned hint: a swinging penis that talks.
Needless to say, the comedic sequences are over the top which is to be expected in a movie lead by Sacha Baron Cohen but I found most of it hilarious, even overall funnier than 'Borat'.
At the same time the film touches on some relevant issues for example when Brüno visits the gay converters or when he has parents audition for him to take a photograph with his kid.
The movie makes fun of them but it also makes viewers aware of the existence of such people. The execution is well done.
Even the score is ticklish at times. Overall, it's a hilarious little film but definitely not everyone's cup of coffee. Looking for something to watch?

Brüno interviews parents of child models , asking if their toddlers would be ready to lose weight, undergo liposuction , operate "antiquated heavy machinery" or "amateur science", or dress in Nazi uniforms.
He shows photographs of the boy covered with bees, on a crucifix and in a Jacuzzi next to male adults in a 69 position. The audience is appalled and social services take the baby from Brüno, driving him to depression.
He goes to a diner to gorge on high- carb junk food. Lutz carries him back to a hotel room. After a night of sex, they awake to find themselves trapped in a bondage mechanism, unable to find the key.
They call a hotel engineer for help and are asked to leave. After accosting a group of anti-gay protesters from the Westboro Baptist Church while still in bondage gear and boarding a bus, Brüno and Lutz remove their equipment at Madison County Office of Alternative Sentencing and Release in Huntsville, Alabama.
Lutz leaves Brüno. After realizing the biggest names in Hollywood are straight citing Tom Cruise , Kevin Spacey , and John Travolta , Brüno consults two gay converters to help him become heterosexual.
He attempts other "masculine" activities, such as learning karate , joining the National Guard , going hunting in Alabama, and attending a swingers party, during which he is whipped by a dominatrix.
Lutz appears at the event and calls Brüno a " faggot ". The two fight, only to rekindle their love, making out and stripping in front of shocked spectators who throw objects into the cage.
The clip gets international press, and the now-famous Brüno attempts to marry Lutz, getting O. Baron Cohen was cognizant of his increased fame following the success of Borat , which led him to retire the character for a number of years, and realized it would be much harder to conduct his interviews as Brüno without being recognized.
As a solution, Baron Cohen wore a wig that lowered the size of his forehead easily recognizable on the Borat character , which to his amazement succeeded in hiding his identity for most of his interviews.
Nevertheless, the flimsy nature of the disguise made Baron Cohen fearful that he would be recognized, to the point that he chose to live inside his trailer for almost the entirety of the six-month shoot.
During Baron Cohen's Middle East interview of Alpher and Khatib, he repeatedly conflated Hamas and hummus and feigned belief that the conflict was between Jews and Hindus.
The two interviewees who had received a fee to appear on camera , convinced by the elaborate production, were confused by the questions but generally went along, even when asked by Baron Cohen to hold hands.

Similarly unaware of the true nature of the production was Paula Abdul , who, during her interview scene in the film, sat atop a Mexican landscaper and was presented with food adorned upon a man lying down on a cart wearing nothing but a "sock" over his penis.
