Ich mag Milla Jovovich, aber sie kann hier schauspielerisch als taffe Agentin nicht wirklich überzeugen, auch wenn sie ihr Bestes gibt. Pierce Brosnan ragt schon aus dem Cast heraus und hat einen schön fiesen Part, jedoch kann auch er nicht viel tun angesichts einer eher dürftigen Story bzw einer generell allzu bekannten.
Eigentlich ist so ziemlich jede Aktion der Figuren vorhersehbar. Typical brain-washing British-American spy thriller directed by James McTeigue and written by Philip Shelby, which was simply made to show how good job all these American wasters of money do.
McTeigue was one of my favourite directors with V for Vendetta, a much sharper, much more intriguing, much more thought-provoking film It was insultingly cliched and I will say boring!
If I was the director I would probably be ashamed to mention this as my "work with no art". A film that didn't survive. Undramatic, a bit stiff.
Just never went anywhere for me. It's a shame. Milla Jovovich is fantastic as per usual and puts her heart and soul in all the films she stars in and this film "survivor" is no exception.
Can she stop a terrorist attack in New York yes and can she kick Pearce Brosnan's ass. Yeah course she can. Survivor really isn't that bad; it's good for the majority of the runtime, but it overall is a forgettable film.
Dylan McDermott is really quite fantastic in his small role in the film, combatting the much negatively received cowboy comedy he was in.
The most memorable aspect of this film is the change of character for Pierce Brosnan, who plays a villain.
What is more memorable than his role in general is the fact that his character changes from having a moustache to not having a moustache from scene to scene.
It is never brought up whether he is using a disguise or not, he just sometimes has a moustache or not. Things happened because we wanted them to happen.
It didn't have to make sense: it was what we wanted to do. And it was cute - rather than bewildering - because we were twelve.

The leads' work is good though, and I am saying this far from being an admirer of Brosnan. Eventually it's decent entertainment, the one that you end up mixing with other decent entertainers when recalling the best scenes.
Standard action movie. Focuses more on action and running than on working on countering the enemies. The plot even forgets about a bunch of them.
Not much ambition there. The main cast is ok, they do their job. By all means this is not the best thriller for these two actors and nor the best performances or role fits for neither Brosnan nor Jovovich, but the suspense is there and the action keeps up a nice pace to keep the film ticking away nicely.
You never really loose interest in the film but never get the urge to fully invest in it. There's a lot of worn out element in this film but i enjoyed it for the likes of Brosnan and Jovovich and the decent action thriller plot.

The SurvivorThis is going to be god damn amazing! Ok, admittedly McTeigue 's track record since…. Straight up DTV junk, but someone, probably the "Banshee" people, should do a "24"-type show with Milla as a fugitive operator.
Director James McTeigue V for Vendetta , and writer Philip Shelby craft a classy border hopping thriller much like the ones we started to watch towards the end of the Nineties, when the edges were being made smooth at the corners with the chisel of the new filming sensibilities.
The Nineties changed the way a thriller should be, the 's changed how Bond should be. They could not have been serious, but 'Casino Royale, ' not only shocked us but we loved the new battle damage Bond who does not return an expensive suit, intact to his wardrobe.
And then the misogynist Bond. And then Bond sans M. What the fuck is going on? This is a reliably routine thriller that does nearly everything you expect it to, but the solid cast and McTeigue's slick visuals make it passable entertainment.
Oh well, it has Pierce Brosnan as an internationally-renowned assassin called The Watchmaker who announces his arrival anywhere with explosives.
