CristiTalos pe 8 mai E ca un tablou de Caravaggio luand viata in fata ochilor tai. Un mix delicios de nebunie, absurditate, amuzament, tragedie, iar overall Un film dinamic cu un cast excelent mai ales Olivia Colman, care e magnifica in rolul reginei Anne.
Fara sa dau prea multe detalii, pot spune ca finalul este probabil cel mai "concret", tinand cont ca este un film marca Yorgos Lanthimos.
Un final care a ramas cu mine mult timp dupa ce l-am vazut, atat de mult intrucat trebuia sa ma reintorc sa-l vad. Side note, stiu ca inca nu este o data de lansare pentru Romania, insa daca aveti posibilitatea sa-l vedeti pe marile ecrane, s-o faceti.

Folosirea in exces a cadrelor extrem de largi devine obositoare la un moment dat. Un triunghi de lesbiene, in care una e o regina bolnava si fizic si psihic, iar celelalte doua se chinuie sa-si indese limba cat mai adanc in urechea si nu doar acolo reginei pentru a deveni Favorita de la curtea regala.
Un film care n-are nimic demn de Oscar, cel din vremurile bune, dar se incadreaza perfect la cerintele actuale.

View All Critic Reviews Feb 21, The story follows two cousins in the royal court as they vie for the affections of Queen Anne, each manipulating her to their own ends.
The filmmakers admit upfront that they don't care about historical accuracy, and are re-imagining the people and events. But worse than that are the bizarre directing choices; using distorted camera angles randomly for no apparent reason.
Weisz and Stone both give strong performances, but they're playing dislikable characters cheating, conniving bitches, though not in a fun way.
Still, some of the dark humor and slapstick works, and the sets and costumes are incredibly well-done. Yet overall The Favourite is an extremely boring film that's poorly made.

In this one the ladies mix it up pretty damn good, dressed to the 17th century nines for their WWF cage match-up. The queen is a little addlepated upstairs and so requires some hands-on coaching, and so inadvertently setting up the battle to be her "best friend" in court.
Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone are killer as the main event, but Olivia Coleman's Queen is like looking at one of those will-you-feed-this-hungry-child infomercials they show overnight.

It is essentially Barry Lyndon with a dash of the Coen Bros, in that we get a Kubrick-esque perfectly framed rendition of eighteenth-century aristocracy, but with plenty of dark comedy and offbeat humor along the way.
The reason to be here, of course, are our two leading actresses, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone. Weisz plays Sarah, the Duchess of Marlborough husband of the Duke of Marlborough, the famous British soldier , while Stone plays her disgraced cousin Abigail, attempting a climb back up the social ladder.
Sarah is the more established, masculine, and business-oriented rival, while Abigail is the more playful, effeminate, and underhanded contender.
When you play the Game of Thrones The Favourite is perhaps the best shot film of the year and I wasn't kidding with the Barry Lyndon comparison earlier.
Both and indoor and outdoor scenes appear naturally lit, and there are many moments where only dim candlelight illuminates the cavernous and ornate rooms which dwarf our subjects.
Every image is presented as a painting, which often frames the characters against other works of art - presenting them as both a masterpiece and caricature of themselves and the period they represent.
Director Yorgos Lanthimos is known for his offbeat and controversial films The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer and this is perhaps his most conventional film to date, but don't let that label mislead you.
It's a still a serious picture that intends to challenge you. Both Weisz and Stone are goddamn perfect and deserve every statue thrown their way.
Colman plays Anne as borderline autistic and manic-depressive and avoids hamming up her performance, which would have cheapened the film.
This film gets a lot of mileage out of the theme that royal "favourites" were essentially prostitutes sexual or not , who shaped the course of history, for better or for worse.
The ending is a bit bizarre and may irk audiences with its abstract nature. I understood its symbolism, but it was truly an odd choice.

The Favourite is supposed to be a historical drama with tons of comedy and a light bit of thriller thrown into it, but when it came to the comedy, I couldn't get with it.
While the Laemmle Playhouse audience laughed at every single line of dialogue that would come out of someone's mouth, I could not take it.
A lot of the film was pure bonkers, and I couldn't really get into it. The concept of playing against the trope that British historical figures are normally conservative and well spoken, and having them instead be balls-to-the-wall mentally insane and outlandish in this film, is an interesting idea, but it did not work for me.
There is literally a scene where a character gives a monologue to the camera about their evil plan, while stroking her newlywed's member.
And I was thinking, what in the actual hell?? It was funny, but it was more weird than anything. The film as a whole is just weird. I don't think it really cares as much about the narrative or the characters, but with how weird the setting can be.
Whether it is really out of place dancing in the ball room the only scene I burst out laughing at , the queen declaring how much they want to get oral pleasure, girls bathing in mud, really loud and obnoxious screaming, an annoying fish-eye lens, continuous rubbing of old women's feet, and even more screaming, I just couldn't find a point to any of it.
It is almost like the director is like "hey bro, look at how outlandish I made these uptight British royalty look. Funny, funny! I will give the film a rewatch when it comes out on digital, and have subtitles included, because sometimes that improves my film experience.
But from what I can tell, The Favourite is definitely not really my cup of tea. Perhaps because they are not in a British royalty setting, which I have a hard time getting to in the first place.
Anyways, try not to hate me please. Remember, I acknowledge the achievements of the film, but it does not work for me.

The movie does not specify a timeframe for its events, but it seems to suggest that Abigail rose in stature in a relatively short period of time.
However, the events portrayed in the film actually happened over the course of several years. Abigail arrived at the palace in and married Samuel Masham in , and Sarah was stripped from her royal position in Sarah, on the other hand, was staunchly aligned with the Whigs.
