Bose Wave Music System in the room, as in most other modern Fairmont properties. The bed is quite comfortable with good linens. The hotel sits by the canal with a great view of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in backdrop.
It has private beach and the largest hotel pool in Abu Dhabi to my knowledge. Nothing, other than 3 other hotels, is within walking distance.
However, driving or cabbing around is pretty easy. The lobby is in contemporary design with nice lounge chairs and lighting. A dedicated staff in the lobby serving Arabic dates and tea for tasting, a very nice touch.
Valet is fast and friendly. Had dinner at the Lebanese restaurant on the ground floor. Food and service was pretty good. Okay, as for improvement, there's no power strip or panel for power outlets in the room!
I had a hard time believe it and kept on searching for 5 minutes until I realized there's no such thing in the room. Only 2 outlets on the wall by the desk, one for the Bose stereo and the other one for the table lamp.
I had to pull the Bose to feed juice to my laptop. It is hard to believe that a modern hotel nowadays does not provide adequate power outlets by the desk, to hook up gadgets.
One day housekeeping did not refill the coffee pod for the in-room Nespresso machine. I called them twice and they promised to send some up,but it did not happen.
The next day, I called again in the morning asking for coffee pods and was told they were on the way. When I returned to my room in the evening,there was no pod there.
Plus they did not put soap in the bathroom. Had to call them again and finally a guy came up with a boxful of pods, and a soap bar in the hand.
Never had such issue at other Fairmonts. On the day I was leaving,I called concierge whole bunch of times asking for help with my luggage. There was NO one answers the phone!
I had to haul all luggage myself down to the lobby. I understand it was am but isn't concierge supposed to be available around the clock? Overall,it is a nice hotel and service is good in general.

Little flexibility in half board offering - not able to trade down and use pool side bar for example. Stench of smoke in Frankies put kids off despite food being good.
